FATAL ACCIDENT.
A fatal accident occurred at Kaiwara last night. An old settler at Tawa Flat named William Peckman, a carter, was driving, home from town, and had to ford the Kaiwara stream (the bridge being under repair). He, however, mistook the to the ford, and it is supposed that m attempting ip turn the horse and cart it slipped over the embankment. .Thecart was discovered by two men, and on search being made, Peckman was found underneath, 'life being extinct. He leaves a wife and large family. An inquest will be held.
