ATTEMPTED MURDER AND SUICIDE.

i MELBOURNE, Wednesday A determined attempt at murder and suicide was made early yesterday morning m a house of ill-fame m Biissell-street, Melbourne. A bet;ting man, named Colley, entered the house at 5 a.m., and immediately afterwards an altercation was heard, followed by the screams of the victim, named Lewis, who had her tHroat cut nearly from ear to ear. Colley then endeavored to commit suicide. Both still live, though the woman's wounds are very serious.
