STEVENS AND GORTON'S SALE.
Messrs. Stevens and Gorton held their usual monthly stock rale at the Borough Sale YardSj Palmerstoii North* on Wednesday last. The attendance was not very large, nor was the bidding so spirited, as usual, however, very fair prices were offered for most of the stack yarded* but they were passed m, the upset prices being too high. The first lot offered was 15 head store cattle, which were knocked down at £4 1 Is. §d- per head t 10 steers realised £4 15s. per head ; 7 head mixed sold a.t £3 10s. ; 6. head beef* at 2«. 6<J. per bead; arid a milch cow at ; 4J2 ? 10i. ;. milch cows passed m a.t £6 ; 5 well-bred heifers also passed m at £,5 10«. j calves Bought mat 305. ; $ more milch cows bought mat £4 ; one at £4; another *t £?. Sheep realised fair prices, 10Q fat wethers sold at Us. fid. per head, there be^ag oply the one lot penned,/ Pigs realised from 5a up to 255. per headland' some 20 were disposed of. There were no homes offered.
