THE MAGGIE PATERSON

A preliminary enquiry was held to-day into the circumstances connected wi'h the wreck of the Maggie Paterson at the Heads. The evidence went to show that the casualty was due to the mistake made by the mate. When entering Heads he mistook the red lighthouse for the one at the extreme end of the Bream Reef. The vessel is uovv a total wreck. Sho was sold at auction this afternoon for £H2 ; and her carp;o of coal, besides hides and zinc realised £78.
