The portion of ro-id referred to, is immediately m front of section, No 39, complainant stated i bat at the present lime there was about about two vet of water, and as much mud on tfat part of the road, ?nd asked that a bridge might at once be erected. It was resolved that the clerk be instructed to write Mr Squires, infoiming him that his application wuul-1 he attended to, when the season is a little further advanced. From the Under-S<'cretary, for Public Works, relative to taking Lands for Public Works, under p art 2, " Public Works Act 1876." Received". Letter from Mr. Phynn, and nx others, stating that their road m Kiwitea was stopped, and at same ti-ne reminding the Board, that some time since, it authorised she Warden for Kiwitea, Mr. Per^y, t«> expend £30. opposite sections I'6B, pn3 170 ;and £: 0 further on. Yet, they enmplaimd, nothing had been done m the matter. Mr. Skerman thought the best reply to give was, that this Board was totally unable to legist te for Iv,iwi!ea. The district was too far nfT for this Board to manage, and he considered that the Kiwitea distilct should have a Road Board of its i own. . | The Chairman coincided, with this viev\ of the mitter, and asked the Board's permi r ;sit»n, that ho should write to Mr. Phynn to that eifrct, also to «ny. that, m ■ the Warden's absence, the Board was quite unable to do anything m the matter until he was present. Granted. ' From the Ranrton-Ornarvon Highway Board acknowledging the receipt of letter from the Manawatii Highways Board, relative to for warding a cheque for the £300 due the latter. The letter stated that the next me:Hnsr of the former would be held on the 2Ctfh. inst. whan the matter wouKl be laid before the Bo.ard. It .V3s resolved the matter should stand over until such times as the Boird had held its meci'Tii. and its decision on the question made Vnown. Prom Mr. Phyon stating that he badexpended the £8 on the load m Kiwitea as authorised to do by the Board, aod asking for payment. The amount was ordered to be paid. From M?. Stevens calMng attention to, the state of the road on Wilson's line, from the p eserit formation to the BiidYo, and asking that the same he formed, and put into passable condition,. a distance of about 12 chains, which would cost about £7. He offered to do the formation at i lls. per chain, and wait tvjelve months for payment. It was resolved that Mr. Stevens offer bs accepted on the terms named. .MISSING PLANS, Mj\ Row said he thought it time the Boa^d sought out the plans &c, drawn hj Mr. Hayns. whist he was engineer, to the Board. Upon discussion, tkt Board agreed that they should ehdearor to get tht ■missing plans and it was resolved that, Mr. Hayns be asked to return all plant m bis .possession, which were drawn ky him for the Board, whilst vnder its employ, and that the Secretary be instructed to. write to Mr. Hayns to that effect. Accounts amounting to £ were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
