Gai-fieM. - He 4 seemed brofeeh down in health and uncafed''fornft.<'persfon being shabbily dressed. The line of defence will be— (l) • hereditary insanity, and (2); malpractice on part ] of physicians in attendance on the -murdered man. The trial is -fixed for the* 1 7th N"o- --| vember. While Gruiteau was in Court, a man named Beathean, evidently intoxictted, sought to--bot»row- a 'pistol to shoot him. Mrs ("a -'-field has requested » Dr. Boynton to withold a statement he has prewar .;d rolaiive'-tothe autopsy, and general, treatment of the President's case, as she -is satisfied the President's wound 1 was mortal, and does not desire to have the controversy further prolonged. GuiteaQ, the assassin, haa been victimised by a stenographer- to wbromhe 'gave notes of his life, to be .published in pamphlet form, the proceeds to defray the expenses of 'his defence. Instead of doing this, the iteno'trmpher sold the notes to the ■ "New" York Herald" and ppeketed ■the money received* •
