The day's tport* was considerably enlivened by^the tntroduction.of a» Steeplechase, which took place at two- b'elocW Fourteen : horses started, the race was one mile and a distance,, bf er eight jumps, and although the course- was very rough, and tbftre being many sharp turns, still no accidents occurredj and the race provoked general' merriment. From the start the running was between Mr. S. :Belv«e's « PlyingTiah " and Mr Hughes' "Prophet," and at the ftdish theue borsßs came, m a dead heat, consequently had to- run the cace again, w|hen a splendid contest: ensued-.
