(Continned) A statement was read by the Chairman showing the indebtedness of the whole of the ridings of the old Manawatu County to be £3.200. The Oroua County's share of this was £1451 which would be reduced by sundry assets to 1200. In reference to the tenders sent m it was resolved that no decioion be come to till after next meeting. Cr Bailey's notice of motion that the Counties Act be suspended by petition m the -Oroua Councy was carried unanimously, and the Chair* man wa* appointed to draw up the petition and arrange to get the re* quired number of signatures at a price not exceeding 6d each. On the motion of Gr Engels the Financial Committee was empowered to arrange with the Manawatu. Council at the conference on Wednesday next with regard to the con" trol of the Awahuri ard; Oroua Bridges. — The Chairman was authoxised to arrange with' the Bank of Australae Bia for an overdraft, the payment of accounts to stand over m the meantime. . , It was agreed that the usual Is 6d per day be paid for patients sent to the Wanganri Hospital, and that final arrangements be made m re* gard to payment of proportion of staff expenses when matters are.ararranged with the Manawatu Coun* cil. The application of A. L. Stokes for a slaughtering license at Stoney Creek was granted subject to payment of £3. „. The financial committee was empowered to arrange for a special meeting of the Council after the' conference had taken place. . , The Council then adjourned.
