Embezzlement by a Secretary of a Friendly Society.
Per Press Association. Chrietchurch, August 21. Heller, formerly connected with the old English Fayre, and recently teacher of the Catholic schools here, left suddenly for Sydney. It was found that he had appropriated the inpney of the Hibernian Society, and forged the Rev. Father Ginaty's signature to cheques. The police at Wellington were telegraphed to, but the Wakatipu, m which Heller was, had sailed. Heller, however, ; yr&p arrested at Sydney on the affivKlof the isifceamer. Sergeant Mason leaves by the .Manapouri to take charge othim.
