Sporting Notes.
From the Wangaoui Herald.
Local turf news is very scarce at present. The training track has been thrown open to trainers, and Mr S> Powell's team frequ. ntly put in an ap^ pearance for slow work. Sam's team w composed of Fame, Hinemoa, Bayard Leonessa, Wairuareki, and someyoW sters. Mr Chnham has Dan doine good work. Messr«R O we, Keith, and Ghurn ton, have also some horses in work but nothing worth noting has taken place as yet. ! Mr D. Fraser, owner of the Tubal Cam-Sea Shell colt Armourer, has decided to relegate him to stud duties this season. Like most of Tubal Cain'i Htock. he evidently requires age; Mr Fraser will the-efore allow him to serve' a limited number of approved • mares this season, and race him again when fie isa-syear.old. We understand that JSatator, that grand horse whose performances are so well-known throughout the colony, has been purchased by Mr John Walker, atyl he will shortly be brought up to : this district for stud purposes His ' breeding is the best, he being by Tra* ! " ducer out of Waterwitch, a half-sister of Irtirhne, which is sufficient to guarantee the excellence of his stock. '
