Butter and Cheese Factory.
: — —♦ The following resohitions which were passed at the Karere meeting on Monday, have been courteously placed at our disposal :— 1. Proposed by Mr H! M'Ewen, seconded by Mr J. Mowlem— rThat a cheer and butter factory be estab. lished at Karere. 2. proposed by Mr C. Collis, seconded by Mr V. Monrad— That a company be formed with a capital of. i £3000in 1000 shares of £3 each: 1500 to be called up. ' 3. Proposed by Mr V. Monrad, seconded by Mr V. T. Hatchings — That this meeting receives th'e offer, of Mr C. Collis (of a site of two acres at the late Government valua,-' tion) with thanks, but that it will confine itself to fix the site somewhere between the Karerle and Longburn railway stations ; also that the price to be paid to producers shall be only B|d per gallon, to be in-i creased to 4d, when the shareholders have received 10 per cent on their investment, calculated from the time when the factory has been started. Messrs. Mowlem, Wingate, Hitch. ings, Sly, Monrad, C. Collis, and Clus.en were appointed to canvass •he district, to put themselves m communication wit h Mr Bowronand to draw up a prospectus, m which the public of Palmerston will be requested to join, w!ien Mr Bowron has arrived. A cordial vote of thanks , to Mr J. Monrad, and the time*hon« ofed civility to the Chairman, Mr Sly, concluded a very successful and welUattended moeting. It is to oe' regretted that several settlers knew nothing about it.
