Fire Brigade Meeting.
At the Fire Brigade meeting last night, Captain Bentley was m. the chair. Several members were fined Is for non-attendance. A letter was read 'f rdm tne Unn . It was stated by Mr Stratford that m «dther ? places the insurance ooinparies usuallj gave from : £5 to iEIO per annum towards brigades. , Messrs Webb, Williams, Janson, Spinks, Meyrick,. . Collins, Ewing, Stone, Pringle, Graff, Francis, and Jon son were proposed as members. Mr Stratford gave notice to move at nest meeting that an entrance fee of 5s be paid by all new members. It was resolved to . place the account at the Bank of Australasia, Tho following accounts, were passed :— Daily Times, 4>2 v 18s; Standard, £2 16s 6d ; W. Park, 21s; H. Graff, 27s 6d ; Petty Cash , 5s 6d. The Secretary duly reported the action of the Committee in^ writing to the Borough' Council, 3cc.,aiso,* that contracts had been entered ipto with Mr Stiatford for the supply of = plant and apparatus for the, Brigade at a cost 'of £6.6 15s, and witt ; Mr Kerslake for the supply- of uniforms at 298 each; The ßeport was adopted.It was resolved that the thanks of the Brigade be sent to Mr Ferguson for the use of his small fire. engine at the late fire m King street. , .", Captain Bent ley, and Messrs. West, Wood, and Stratford were ap« pointed to wait on JVlr Waldegrave to a&k him to ratify the promise made by the New Zealand Insurance Company of the use of the engine at Wellington. ; The 3ejcretary's salary; was, on, the motion of Mr Wood, seconded by Mr Stratford,' fixed at per annum; : ; • This conclude^ the business.
