Funeral of the Late Mr. E. Marsh.
The funeral of the late Mr B. Marsh took place yesterday, and was one" of the most numerously attended that has yet taken place m Palmerston. The *f neb that nearly a thousand people we? 9 present, m spite of th* state of the weather, proves the hijjh estimation m which deceased was held ooth by the members of the Societies to which he belonged, and thi' public generally. The Foresters met ar their Court room at 12.45, and after ;he usual formalities proceeded -to*the residence of their late brother. The Masonic body met at the Hall m Main-street, and the attendance of members of the c<aft was so large that extra seats had to be temporw arily provided.. Representatives were present from Bulls, Halcombe, Feilding, Awahuri, Foxton, and all parts of the surrounding district. The usual solemn ceremonies were performed m the Lodge room, After which the brethern formed m pjrocession, aad ; accompanied by the Town B<nd, which played sacred airs, proceeded to the residence of the late Brother. ''? * - On arrival at the cemetery gate the Masons halted and opened their ranks, allowing the procession to pass through and . re-forming m reverse order. At the grave the sen vice of the Wesleyan :Ghurchvrwai performed by the Rev. Mr Worker ,• who also delivered a' short 'but impressive address.' ''The Masonic sew vice was then performed by* Bro. The procession then re-formed and marched to the Foresters'; ' Hall, where the . Foresters fell out, and the Masons continued to the lidßge room, where they closed the funeral Lodge m the usual solemn manner.
