The mails will close at Falmerston at 8.40 a.m. and 5 p.m. Notice is given of the intention of the Oroua County Council to make a rate of three-farthings m the £ on the rateable value of property within the County. . , - \ A telegram from Westport states that the Grafton is still lying on the flat at the north side ot the river, and there is no probability of anything being done to her till about the end of the week. The London Mark Lane Expres* regrets to notice that one lady, m ardent pursuit of increase of days by fruit diet, " fell from an apple tree in'o which she had climbed at the age of 1 12."
