PAPAPA is by Ruvensworth (impor* ted) out of Waimea, by Sir Hercules—Flora M'lvor, by Emigrant (imported)— Cornelia, by Grasshopper— Manto (imported) Ravens worth by Touchstone — Fair Jean, by Verulam— Fair Ellen, by Pantaloon. Papapa is a dark chestnut, standing 15 bands 3 inches high, with great length, substance, and quality, and was one of the fastest horses that ever raced m New Zealand. At the Chiistchurch meeting m. 1873 he ran second to the celebrated Lurlinein the Canlerburj Cup, 2\ miles m 4m Bsec, carrying 7st 21bs, as- a three year old. Lurline, 4yrs, Bst 91bs; Tambourini, 9st 61bs ; Malvina, Bst 91bs ; and Templeton- 7st 2lbs, also ran. Papapa won the Chri6tehurch Derby m 2min 4'lsec, beating Castaway (own brother to Lurline), Templeton and Traitor. At Auckland won the Auckland Turf Club Cup, with 7st 81bs, 2 miles, m 3m 45sec. Yatterina, 7st 121bs second. Parawanui, Hatred, and Black Eagle also ran. Papapa also walked over for the Railway Siakes, and won the Thames Plates, 7st olbs, 2 miles, m 3m 65sec, beating Hatred, 9st 71 bs. Terms.— Single mare, L 5 ss ; two or more, as per agreement. MORPHEUS is a golden cheßtnut* stands 16 hands 3 inches : thoroughly sound m all respects. He is 6 years old, and by that fast and well known horse Castaway, dam Somnambula by Towton, dam Opera by II Barbiere, dam Cassan ira by Priam ; Towton by Melbourne ; Castaway by Traducer, dam Mermaid. Morpheus comes from a gieat racing family, claiming some aristocratic and high^cla'oS performers ao his relatives. His sire won the Wellington Cup and ran second for the Canterbury Derby and Great Autumn Handicap. He is full brother to Lurline and Le Loup. The performances of these animals m New Zealand and Australia need no comment. Le Loup won the Canterbury J. C. Handicap and Cup m 1880. Opera, grand dam of Morpheus, won the Canterbury Derby m 1864. Tambourini was also from Opera, by Towton, and won amongst other races the Canterbury J. C. Handicap and Canterbury and Wellington Cups, besides performing successfully over hurdles. Salvage, by Castaway, ran second for the "Wellington last year, giving the winner a year and a pound. Won the Great Autumn Handicap at Christchurch, and ran second to Adamant for the Dunedin Cup giving the winner two years and twenty -four pounds.
