THIS DAT. (From our Special Reporter.) [By Telegraph.] Failding, 1.4 p.m. • The Council did not meet till 11.30, when all the Councillors were present except Cr Bailey. George Richardson's application for permission to erect a temporary fence m front of his section on Foxton Road -was granted. Mr E. J. Armstrong was appointed Engineer for Fitzherbert and Taonui Ridings. It was also resolved to aik Ijim fa apt as Inspector of Slaughterhouses for the same ridings. It was resolved to give notice that the bridge over the Mangaone js, dangerous for heavy traffic, and also, to call for tenders for collecting the rates. The Council then adjourned at one o'clock. This afternoon is likely to be occupied, as an intimation has been received from Government that the applications under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act must be i brought -vyithjn the ljmjt of ££jOQO. As the applications amount to about £26,000, this is likely to create a deajflfdifcuwioa.
