ODDFELLOWS' DISTRICT MEETING.

During the present week Palmer* ston is the centre of interest for members of the two great Friendly Benefit Societies which nourish m the Wellington District. On Thursday 'the delegates jof the various Foresters' Courts met m dehbera^ tiou over matters connected with the welfare and prosperity of the Order, and yesterday the quarterly district meeting of delegates from the Lode's of Oddfei loirs m \he Wan<»anui District, under the Manchester Unity, was held iv the Masonic Lodge room. The district officers arrived by train from Wanganui yesterday, and consisted of Bro. Bamber, P.P.G.M., who also ats tended as a delegate from Wanganui; Bro Garner, P.G.M; Bro Renefield, D.G.M., acting C.S., Bro Hood. The following delegates also attended .- — Bro Ferry, Wanganni ; Bro Foster, Feildirg ; and Broß W. T. Wood, F. Mowlem, J. Stevenson, and E. W. Collins, from *he Loyal Manawatu Lodge. At the meeting the ba'ance sheets of the Wanganui and Manawatu Lodges were approved and passed. Bro Batnber, as Lecture Master, conferred the Purple Degree upon Bros F. Mowlem, P.S., and E. W. Collins, P.G

Tins meeting was noteworthy as being the first district meeting of the Order held m Palmers ton and the event was celabrated by '' a banquet m the Foresters' Hall last evening.
