The Lutheran Festival.
The fourth Lutheran centenary, as celebrated m Pahnerston on Saturday, was a pronounced success, As already stated, a procession was formed at the railway station on Saturday, on the arrival of the mid" day train, which brought a large number of Lutherans, and headed by the two clergymen, Eevs. Gaustad and Meyer, proceeded to the Fores, ters' Hall, singing on the way, " Ein'feste Burg ist unser Gott " Arrived at the hall, a service was performed, both the clergyman taking part, and the hymns being sung with great heartiness. Two other services were held m the afternoon, one m German, and the, other m Danish, both clergyman assisting m the f ovmer.and the Rev. Mr Gaustad only coqduqting the latter. At 6 p.m,, a social tea was held m the Courtroom of the Hall, which was attended by a large number, the tables beiug filled two or three times. Amongst those present were the principal German and Scandinavian aettlers, besides several l§a<}ioff Eng* \\sk residents, who attended by invitation. The tables were presided over by Mesdames Monraoi, Franfczen, Graff, and a number of other ladies whose : names we could not learn. The tables were laden with choice delicacies as well as more substantial articles, and oysry, tion. was pajc^ tq tl^e wants of guests. J^t Q o'clock a general meeting was held m the Hall, which was well filled. Viggo Monrad, Esq., J.P., occupied the chair. The Hey. Mr Gaustad gave a lengthy and inter* esting address upon Luther's times, character, and work, and t^e. Bey. Mr Wright also addressed t^e meeting.
