Borough Statistics.

At a time when interest is b^ing directed to Borough" matters m con* nection with the proposal to raise a : large loan, it will not be out of plaoe I to quote a few figures from published returns. From the volumes, of government statisticswe gain the following information regarding the finances of Palmerston for the years mentioned : — We have excluded odd .sliilliogs and pence for convenience pf printing : —

The estimated area, of the Borough is set down at 4595 acres. The population increased f-om 880 m 1878 .to 1366 m 1881 ,• and tbe dwellings from 225 to 400. In tbe.^firstt-nani.edyeat t^he.
