\advestising| V ISTHB jjj \keystone/ j [Advertisement. \ From Monday's Manawatp Daii.t TimesOUR ALMANAC. ♦_ . With this issue we p; esenfc to our subscribers a sheet almanac and calen 'ar for 1884, which ban been made an entirely local affair Tbe calendar has been compiled at considerable trouble, and will be found to contain the dates of the princ pal stock and horse sales hela m this portion of the district, the days of meeting of the various public bodies and societies, and other information of vaiue to residents. It is deemed that information of this kind will be of far greater interest than the nsual platvpf chronicling events that happened hundreds of years ago, and which are of mere importance to the historian than the busiaess man. The time table for the incoming and outgoing mails via San Francisco will alßo be found m the Almanac. We may mention that the information io regard to this was very courteously supplied to us m advance by Mr W. Gray, secretary to the Postal Department. Wellington, io whom we take the present opportunity of expressing our thanks. The Official Directory had been carefully compiled m order to be perfectly reliable, and we have no doubt it will be found serviceable to both the town tradesman and country settler. The Traveller's Guide contains informa'ion as to the tinies of departure of coaches for Napier, Wairarapa, &a, and of the trains for Wanganui and Foxton. A list of the railway fares charged is also published, which should bi found convenient for re r erence. On another portion of the sheet will be found a list of the Ministry as at present constituted, and other interesting items, including details for guidance m the ease of registration of Births, Marvieges or Deaths. A scale of the Postal and Telegraphic charges m foice is also supplied. From the foregoing it will be seen that no effort has been spared to make the sheet as useful as possible, and we have no hesitation m saying that as a compendium of local and general infoimation it will bear comparison with any sheet almanac issued throughout the Colony. It is noteworthy also that this is the first thoroughly local almanac, as well as the largest and best that has ever beea issued In the district. It is full of local information and has been compiled and printed locally. In this connection we may remark that our local tradesmen and others quickly perceived the value of the almanac as an advert tising medium, as niay be seen from the number and variety of their announcements which appear upon it. We have to thank them heartily for the suppcrt they have extended to us m the mattef, and trust next year to be enabled to do them even belter justice. We may mention that to-night this sheet will find its way into the hands of cou-iderably move than 1000 readers, and we have no doubt that owing io the valuable nature of its contents the majority will preserve it during the year upon which w°. are just entering.
