The Feilding Borough Loan.
We clip the following "irdm the Feilding Star : — Messrs Shexwill and Loudon returned from W^ellington yesterday. The ' result of their visit to the Commissioner c_T Insurance with regard to the loan wast most satisfactory, and will be laid m detail before the Borongh Council at its next meeting.- In this connection we may state that these gentlemen made the startling discovery of some person, believed to be a resident pf Manawatu, having placed himself m communication with the, Government m order to blacken as. much as possible the commercial aiid general reputation of the Boi»ugh,pf j _^eil6_ng.and the settlers of the Manchester Block. We are not m possession of full particulars of the. contents of the documents, but this wdb khow r that as they are now State papers their production will be demanded m the House next session, Sand the ««unclean bird " who dwells now amongst us, will be held up to public indignation and scorn, and will be made.ai. example of to all other «.* evil, speakers and liars." We may also state that if Messrs Shexwill and Loudon had not gone to Wellington, the opportunity would have been lost for repelling and confuting the unfounded slanders, and our chances of assistance from the Government would have been nil.
