Recognising the danger of staying any longer m tne bush the teamster returned to town. The English mails were delivered at the Palmerston Post office this morning. Mr R. N. The rapidity with which the one followed theother showed the bolt must have been shot close at hand, while the appearance of the sky, strange to say, tnough wild and stormy, did not betoken any very unusual state of the atmosphere. We learn that the peal of thunder was heard at Foxton and Turakina, and is generally regarded as the heaviest within the memory of the oldest inhabitant.
