Social Gathering,

A well attended social gathering was held m the Danish Church, Palmerston last evening. The Eev 0. G-austad gave a very interesting address upon " Mission work m India." Mr L. Gr. West also addressed the meeting, and urged the advisability of conducting service m the English language occasionally for the benefit of visitors and of the young, particularly as the congregar fcion was composed of different nationalities. Eeadings were also given by Messr3 E. Eomberg and Clouston, who were listened to • with marked attention. The choir under Mr Hanson, sang some hymns m a very creditable manner. Mr Hanson also offered up proyer, after which the proceedings closed. Altogether a very pleasant and instructive evening was spent.
