Holidays for Saints.
To the Editor, Sir, — Now we have begun honouring Ireland's patron saint by a public holiday, I suppose we will give Saint George and Saint Andrew|each a show. Who these estimable parties were is more than 1 can tell you ; and all I know of Saint Patrick is that which is contained m the song, Saint Patrick was a jintilman Who came o' daceut people ; He built a church m Dublin town, And on it put a steeple. It is also reported that he drove snakes out of Ireland, but this I doubt, flowever, 1 suppose we did not stop work yesterday because of any special merit m Saint Pat., but because we wanted a holiday, so, Mr Editor, I hope yell be after bearing m mind Saint George, but above all Saint Andrew, because he is the patron saint of the land from which comes Yours truly Sandy M'Tavish.
