The New Railway Tariff.

(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, March 15. A large meeting of farmers and merchants was held to«day to consider the proposed alterations m the railway tariff. Mr H. W. Perryman, chairman oftbe Corn Exchange, occupied the chair. The following M-H.R.'a were present; — Messrs Ivess, Pearson, W. White, Holmes, and Wynn Williams. It was unanimously resolved, " That this meeting condemns the action of the Governs nient m raising thej^tariff, upon the ground that the time is most inopportune."
