FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' DOCTOR.
[to ttis ejktoti.] Sit? — I sco by the Standard of Thmv-dny that it is said Foresters, Oddfellows and Good Templars haveresolved to dispense with the services of fheir proscut sturgeon. How tho Standard^ got b.ild of that I don't know, fop tho Foresters have not decided an 1 - 1 thing of the !dud. I, for one, would be very sorry to do away with our present Doctor for 1 kuow that we would have to go'a long way to get another like him. The only gentleman who is trying to get this new Doctor here, as we know, has a spite against the present Doctor, and I suppose that he wants to have his revenge on him. But what is this new Doctor going to be? Is he going to be like Doctor Har* vey, after being here for a time to seek pastures new ? lam afraid he will. A word about Doctor Marriner. I have had him often for myself and family, and 1 could not wish 1 'to have better attendance than I have bad from Doctor Marriner. I have also had. lately to .visit sick brother Foresters, arid ! have inquired "f rota ' them of Doctor Marriner, and they all teU me that if they were paying Doctor Marriner a pound a. day they could not get better attendance.' So I think, Sir, as ; we have srich.i* D6a-, ; tor as Doctor Marriner we should * try all m our power to, keep, him* I am, &c, ;.....,.,: .... , C. Hill. ' Palmerston .North, April 4* H,881.$
