AUCKLAND NAVAL v. JAPANESE.

Per Press Association. Auckland, April 13. A. 12-oared cutter race took place yessterday between the Auckland Naval Artillery and a crew from the Japanese warship Tsukuba,the course being two and a half miles. In the first race Auckland won by lmin and 40sec, having a much better and lighter boat. The boats were then changed, and the Japanese m the second boat won by 15 sec, the Auckland Naval Artillery thus proving better men by lmin and 25sec. The wharf was crowded with spectators. The| Japanese pulled pluckily ' and well, and were heartily cheered.
