As considerable curiosity exists regarding the grounds on -which Mr George Thome, jun., has been suspended from his duties as Superintendent of Agents in* the Government Insurance Department we may say that it is understood to be m consequence of the following tele* grams, addressed by Mr Thorne to Mr Joseph Mackay, which have been published by the latter since his committal for trial : — Wellington (to Albury), 24th Jan., 1884. Unofficial. — Your telegram to Treasurer and Commissioner this morning, received just after latter's telegram to you, puts all the fat m the fire. Let me advise you withdraw them. If well enough finish M'Kenzie trip and think n§ more of matter for month, when I will try and see you. Eegret you misconstiue my tele* gram. [ George Thorne, Junr. Wellington, 28th November, 1883.
