At a meeting of the Licensed Victuallers Association the following resolution was carried unanimously : " That m the opinion of this meeting the action of the Licensing Commissioners for Auckland borough and suburbs of the city is deserving of censure, inasmuch as they manifested a spirit oi bitterness towards any persons m the trade. That a radical change m the Act and its amendment is necessary. 'That th« dr&f fc copy of the ' Bill ' transmited from the Qtago Association meets with' the entire approyal of the Auckland Licensed Victuallers 1^ sociatiou ; and that it will use every exertion to have the present Acts amended m that direction. Mr Bell's house at Hamilton was destroyed by fire which originated through the accidental capsizing of a kerosene lamp. The ladies connected with the Blue Ribbon movement ate taking steps to establish a home for JkUeo women.
