Major Kilohner who for some time past has been iv command of a body of Bedouin irregular troops stationed at Korosko, telegraphs from that town that he sighted a rebel army during the recent recon* naisahce. Detailed accounts from independent sources confirm Major Kilchner's report, and show tnat a strong body of rebels are now marching upon Korosko, a town about halfway between Assouam and Wady Haifa, 100 miles from the southern frontier of Upper Egypt, and commanding the passage of the Nile. Another body of " Arabs are known to be marching towards Dongola, an important Nubian town, above fche third cataract of the Nile. Iv view of the threatened attacks of Ara^s and their possible advance further north, the Sussex regiment now stationed at Assouaix (?) has been ordered at once to proceed to. Assouain a frontier town of upper, Egypt and an important strategical position. The increasing gravity of the situation is causing considerable alarm here and anxiety *is felt for. the garrisons anc 1 inhabitants of Dongola and Korosko which are believed to be thieatened with another afcttack. Another regimeut wijl follow they Ifayal Suisse^ *p_ Assouam within a §hor.t tin^e i^ order to strengthen the garrison at that place.
