The New South Wales reyenue for the quarter ended SOfch June amounts to L 1.830,000,. 830,000, an increase 01 L 119,500 as compared witb the revenue for the corresponding period, of last year. ■ The question of religious instruc* tion m the State schools is now seriously occupying the attentiou of the New South Wales Government. The weights for the Great Metropolitan Stakes, to be run at the A.J.C. spring meeting, have been published. Malua heads the list with 9sfc 71bs ;Le Grand is weighted with 9st 31bs; Martini-Henry with 9st; Sir Modred, Bst lOlbs. For the Hawkesbury Handicap Martini^ Henry is weighted with 9st 31bs, and Sir Modred with 9st. The Victorian revenue for last quarter amounted to £1,510,000, an increase of £156,000 as comparedwitb. the corresponding quarter of last year. The revenue for the year ended SOfch June amounted to £5,930,000, an increase of £332,000 compared with the previous year. The railway receipts increased £256,000. The excise revenue de« creased £91,000 owing to the read- . .jusfcmeut of stamp-duties. Four .
