This day. j At the Supreme Court W. H. Monckton was found guilty of making a false declaration voder the Marriage Act, and sentence was de*ferred. Alice Lynch pleaded guilty to the same offence ; and will be brought up to morrow for seetence. Albert Kemp, mate of the Eng« lish barbue Hudson, was found guilty of refusing to assist the police con*stable, who was arresting some disorderly sailors on board the Hudson and was ordered to forfeit £20 to to Her Majesty forthwith, and m default of payment be imprisoned for one mouth. A case of infanticide occurred at the Taneru yesterday. A young girl named Annie Anderson was confined of a child which was subsequently found dead with marks of violence on its body. At the Supreme Court this morning Annie Lynch on a charge of making false representation under the Marriage Act was sentenced to eighteen months imprisonmen.. What is heliyed to have been an attempt at suicide was brought to light to-day about 9 o'clock. A veterinary surgeon named Stan*, ford was discovered m a comatose state, and, on Dr Rawson's services being brought into requisition, it was found that the man was suffering from the effects of a heavy dose of laudanum. The sufferer was taken into a surgery, and on the stomach pump being applied a quantity of poison was removed. The man was soon out of danger, and was then removed to the police station.
