The Small-pox Scare.
Per Press Association. Wellington, This Day. Government are communicating by telegraph with the authorities m Australia and the health oliicers m this colony with reference to the sinall-poi (.question. The Government are awaiting replies before taking action, as they do not wish to enforce a general quarantine unless absolutely necessary, as it would very seriously disturb the large trade which this colony has with Australia. Should it be decided not to euforce a general quarantine every precaution will be taken by the health officers to prevent the disease being carried into the colony, by their making minute examination of evei'y vessel for trace of disease. Should any be found the vessel and passengers would be quarantined for the full period.
