WELLINGTON RACING CLUB'S SPRING MEETING.
SECOND DAY. ♦ (Per Press Association.) \V ELLIN GTOW, NoV 29. The second day's racing of the Wellington Racinjj Club was held to* day. There was a fair attendance and the weather was fine. Thefbln lowing are the results : — Free Handicap, of 40 soys ; three" quarters of a mile. Mr Horstord's Minerva, 9sfc 21b .1 Mr J C. Vallance's Pasha, Bst ... 2 Mr Pilbrow'fi Ugly Buck, Bat 101 b 3 Witiora and Laurel also ran. Time, lmin 20|sec. Dividend £3 14s. Hurdles, of 60 soys; afcout 2£ miles. Mr Alexander's Liabil.ty, 105t ... 1 Mr Harrison's The Druid, 105t... 2 Mr M. O'Brien's Wideawake list 8 . Time, 4£min. Dividend, £2 19a, VTaiden Plate, of 40 soys; 1£ miles. Ugly Buck, 7st 121 b, easily bea* his only opponent Dynamite, 9stj Dividend, £1 3s. St. Andrew's Handicap. Tancred's Administrator, Bst 101 b, (Clifford) .... ... 1 I Hill's Speculation, late Hippos damia, 7st 6ib (A, Smith)... 2 Campion's Armourer, 7sfc (Hickey) ... ... ... 8 Bayard, Minerva, Refrigerator, and Witiora also ran. The Poet and Ugly Back were scratched. Minerva, Speculation and Armourer were equal favorites. There was a splen* did start, and pass ing the stand * dmiuistrator led, with Armourer at his girths and Witiora a length away, Bayard next, Refrigerator and Minerva bringing up the rear. At the bottom turn Peters let out Witiora, and quickly had the lead which he iucreaaed to six lengths. The others were now m a cluster, Administrator having his neck m front. Witiora gradually increased the lead until uearing the road, when Administrator lessened the gap, and Armourer also improved his position. At the road Witiora fell back beaten and Tancred's colt had a leading position, Armourer second and Bayard third * Coming to the. straight Derrett brought Minerva, and raised the hopes of backers, but he could nofc get on. even terms ; Speculation was lying fourth, and coming fast. Half, way down the straight Clifford called on the roan colt, who answered gamely, and won by a length with a bit m hand. Time 2min 23sec. Divi« dend, L 6 6s. Local Handicap, of 25 soys. Mr F. Parkes' Potaka beat six others. Dividend L 2 7s. The hack race was won by Ger« maine. Dividend L 2 7s. Consolation. Campion's Armourer, 7st 4lb ... 1 T. Hills The Slave. 7sc 71b ... 2 Tancred's First Water, 6sf 71b 3 The Poet Bst 101 b; and Normanby Bst also ran. Dividend Ll2 4s.
