The following sentences were passed at the Supieme Court this day :— Thomas Slater, forgpry, eighteen months' hard labor ; Henry Douglas, larceny, with three prerious convictions recorded against him 8 months' hard labou- ; Karaitiana, horse- ? stealing, two years' liaid labour. In 'the ; cafe of Williani Wi'Bon, phsrg^d with perjury m connection with the recant assault cases at Taraw ra, the jury were discharged after being-locked- up fivb hours, m consequence of the foreman having been ', seized with an epi eptic fit. There was no signs of the. jury agreeing at the time of discharging..-' A ; new trial has been ordered for Thursday. John Sylvester, oharged with : firing at Mr Chalmers, Railway Inspector, with intent to murder, was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude.
