Dee 8. A committeee meeting of the projectors of the East and West Coast railway scheme was held yesterday. The question of routes was con« sidered, but no defiinite decision arrived at. Ths c- giueer's import on the Arthur Psss line m answer to that by Mr Blair, was read A. deputation of members of the committee waited on the Premier and tyiinister of Public Wbrke, and received from them au assurance that the Govern* laent would place vvery facility m the way of those who desired to carry out the project. Messrs Harper and Harper have been instructed to prepare a preliminary contract, which the proposed company may fiubmiffco Government, • The judges of the Supreme Corirt have appo nted Mr Seth Smith, District Judge of Auckland^, law examiner, vice Allan Holmes, resigned.
