Note. — Limits of area for each lessee : No lease shall be made to any person owning, nor shall any person be capable of becoming the lessee under a lease, or a sublessee, who owns any freehold land, or land held under lease or license under the Crown whereby s'ich person shail bacome either the owrer tenant, or occupier m the whole, either by himself or jointly with any other person or persons, including the lands comprised m the lease, of a greater area than 640 acres anywhere m the colony. The sections comprised m the schedule are sit uated at Pahiatua, m the Mangaone Block, m the Kopurarauga District, about Dreyers' Rock near Dreyerton, and front upon or are adjacent to the main road connectiDg Masterton and Wopdville, Branch roads have been formed through the sections at Dreyers, Rock, Central Mangaone, Hawera, and Pahiatua, at distances respectively from Masterton of about f our* teen miles, thirty one miles, thirty five miles, and forty miles. The Mangahao sections are within four** teen miles of the Town of Wood" ville. The Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Napier is now being constructed to a point about seven teen miles north of MaSterton. Sites for railway stations have been se- 1 lected at several points. The whole of the sections are co« vered with forest, the principal trees being tawa, rimu, hinau, rata, kahii* katea, with totara m places ; the undergrowth is, as a rule, heavy ; the general character of the soil is good, and m some places is of first class quality, the formation being limestone, clay marl, sandstone, &c. The country is generally hilly and undulating, but there are large flats as wel l as broken gmund within the area ; it is well watered, and, as the climate is also very favorable the land pbould, when cleared and brought into cultiyation, prove well adapted for pastoral and, to some extent, agricultural purposes, SCH^EDTJI'E.
