A triTelling honaria jeweller, arrived late one evening at tbe Louwßjofi Brahmin, with whom he had a •light Hfcquaintance, and displayed his ware*. The Brahmin, after making some purchases, offered to put him up for the nfglr. The offer was gladly accepted, and it w»s>rranged that the jeweller should •leep on theiloor occupied by the Brahmin's •on, the Brahmin and bis wife occupied the 6t|(B.r room. While preparing to turn m, the honaria heard the sharpening of a dao, and the fragments of a conrersation being cmrtied oh by the Brahmin and his wife. Buipecting foul play, he induced the eon to change place with him, and as soon as the .former were asleep, placed a dummy com* poped of a bundle of clothes on tbe bed, crept quietly oa+, and ascended atreeat the back of the house. In about half-an hour he heard the dao doing its work, th n an exclamation of disappointment at finding no plunder, followed by aery of angui-h on the discovery of the mistake the murderer had m de, From his place of concealment, the jeweller then saw the Brabmin come under tbe tree with a hoe, Here he dug a grave m which he buried the body of bis son. At early dawn the jew Her de: 'ended from his. hiding pace and gave information at the ne» est thanna. The police found th b dy under the tree, and arrest d the- Brahmin, whose trial oomes off at the next aarzes, I » informei.
