Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:— ' At Palmerston on Thursday we had a full yarding of Bhieep of good quality, the greater portion of the entry being ewes in lamb for whioh the demand was limited. All classes of sheep were easier and buyers were inclined to stand off until, after tho Bale, when a number of lines" were quitted, vendors having in most cases to reduce their reserves. Cattle came forward in average numbers, but bidding was-not brisk and otherwise no . improvement in prices. Quotations :—Sheep: Good breeding 6W.es 18s'6d to 24s 6d, forward wethers 18s 6d to 198, heavy fat ewes 23s 6d, others 18s 6d to 20s, forward ewes 14s to, 15s, hoggets 18s to 14s 3d. Cattle: Springing heifers £4 lis to £6 ss, heifers in calf £3 10s to £3 15s, 18mos cattle 27s to 88s, good weaners 20s to 25s 667 2yr empty heifers £2 12s. We held our usual monthly sale at Hunterville on Tuesday, 4th July. A heavy yarding of sheep came forward, and cattle above numbers advertised. The sale for sheep opened very slack. buyerß holding back, but livened up as the sale proceeded, and we managed to quit all the sheep at prices slightly lower than the late market rates.. The bidding for cattle was slow, but showed a demand,, and nearly all those yarded changed hands. Sheep :—Store wethers 16s 6d, 17s, 17s 6d, forward do. 18a Id, 18s 3d, 18s Bd, ewes in lamb (young) 225, 17s 3d, 16s 6d, aged do. I4s"ld, 13s 6d, lis 7d, 10s 9d, store ewes 8s Id to 12s, lambs (ewe) 16s 6J, others lis, 13s 9d, 12s 2d, 14s 4d, 16*. culls 9s Bd, fat ewes 18i 7d; 19j.3d, 21s 3d; Cattle:. Fat bullocks £7 4s to Ml 153, fat cows JE3 2s to £5, 18m0s steers £2 to £2 15s, 2£yr steers £3 3s 6d to £3 12s 6d, springing heifers £i to £5, yearlings 25s to 295, cull weaners 5s to 10a 6d, store cows £2 to £2 10s fid.
