Determined Assassination.

Poisoned.Bullets Fired.

Received July 12,1186 p.m. St. Petersbubg, Yesterday. The assessin of Count Schouvaloff is a former " suspect," whose identity is unknown. He waited until other petitioners had withdrawn, and then fired five poisoned bullets at the Prefect. Three of these entered his body, and Schouvaloff succumbed in an hour. The fourth wounded M. Schneider, a prefectorial official.

The assassin was arrested.
