Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The annual conference of the representatives of New Zealand Jockey Club* was opened at the Chamber of Commerce to-day. Sir George Clifford presided.

It was agreed that the maximum number of race meetings held by any club in one season shall be four, instead of five as at present., S. -? Motions to increase the stakes which horses eligible to compete in hack events may win, before being debarred from such events, were withdrawn in Bonio cases, and negatived in others. It was unanimously agreed that no horse shall bo eligible for entry for any race until it is a yearling. The following new rule was adopfed, to take the place of Bule 36:—'• Twoyear olds shall not prior to October Ist start in any raco exceeding four furlongs ; nor prior to December Ist atari in any race exceeding five furlongs; □or prior to March let start in any ran exceeding six furlongs." ■'' '• It was agreed that the tmniuum top weight of 9st in handicaps should not apply to two year-old events, and thai the penalty for employing an unlicensed trainer be compulsory iustead of optional. The following new rule relating to lioenscd jocksys was carried on tha voices: "No jockey's license shall b* - granted to any person under the age of 21 years, unless he be in regular employment of a racehorse owner, or a licensed trainer, or who has not ridden in twenty r»ces in the; previous year, or i» in the employment of a licensed trainer."
