Technical School Cadets
SHIELD. COMPETITIONS DECIDED As a conclusion to the year's work of the Technical School Cadet Company, competitions were held recently to decide the winners of the MeNab Shield and the Collinghamc Shield. The former is awarded to the best shot of the company, the .22 and .303 rifles being used. Tho first four placings were: — Cadet R. Fowler (Tainui Club): .22, 78; ,303, 67; total, 145. C.S.M. J. Beattie (Arawa Club): .22, 78; .303, 54; total, 132. Cadet W. Phillips (Rangitane Club): .22, 61; .303, 64; total, 125. Sergeant D. Mitchell (Rangitane Club): .22, 62; .303, 54; total, 116. The Collinghame Shield is awarded for tho most points in an inter-platoon competition consisting of inspection, physical drill, squad drill and tabloid athletics.
The platoons were placed as follow: No. 4 Platoon (Ngapuhi Club): Sergeant P. Griftn, 12pts, 1; No. I-Platoon (Arawa Club): C.S.M. J. Beattie, and No. 2 Platoon (Rangitane Club), Sergeant. D. Mitchell, equal, lOlpts, 2; No. 3 Platoon (Tainui Club), Corporal A. Thomas, 7pts, 3. Last year No. 3 Platoon (Tainui) proved the winners.
