TAKAKO v. TERRACE END Terrace End and Takaro rinks exchanged visits yesterday. Playing at Terraco End, Ilclsby, Toogood, Jones and Snell (s.) beat Russell, Smith, Cooksley, Tantrum (s.) by the small margin of IS—l7. On the Takaro green, however, the home rink, Bali. Hill, Tanner, Smith (s.) beat Mann, Bell, Dixon, Moffatt (s.), IS—l2. Bulls Beat Northern Four rinks from the Northern Club paid a return visit to Bulls, the home team being successful in winning three games out of four. Results were as follow, Bulls rinks being mentioned first: Golden 25 v. Bennett 10, Walker IS v. Stiles IC, Stevens 19 v. Robinson 28, Drew 22 v. Rabono 20.

Northern Rinks to Play Terrace End Northern will be engaged in an evening game with the Terraco End Club on Friday with the following rinks: Bryce, Stablcford, Kirk, Hoxon (s.); Dickel, Valentine, G. Mill's, Rabone (s.); Ranson, Johnson, McKee, Tcaic (s.); Lynch, Thirtlc, Young, Bryan (8.). MANAWATU AND PALMERSTON

Friendly interchange club matches yesterday between Mauawatu and Palmerston North clubs resulted in each club securing a win on their home green. On Mauawatu green the homo rink, Chilton, Gough, Andrews and Bedford (s.) 26, won from Wilkinson, Barrett, Wilson and Bayliss (s.) 20: and on the Palmerston North green Moxon, Georgi, Simmond's and Boon (s.) 25, defeated Robertson, Jackson, Inglis and Carlisle (s.) 13. Further rounds of club championship games resulted as follow on the •Mauawatu green: —Champion singles: Shand 2S defeated Oxenliam 12; King 21 defeated D. Low .14; Gcrrand 24 defeated Wright 17; Oxenliam 22 defeated Radford t); Cockburn 18 defeated E. Low 17.

Tho following two players remain with two lives at the end of the fourth round; Kershaw and Shand. The following have one life remaining: Corbridge, Barnes, Radford, Mason, Olney, King, Gerrand, Cockburn, Inglis, Oxenham. Champion pair's: Hunter and Barnes (s.) 23 defeated Shand and Kershaw (s.) IS; Hunter and Barnes (s.) 15 defeated E. Low and D. Low (s.) 14; Porter and Olney (s.) 29 defeated Cockburn and Gerrand (s.) 19. The game between D. Low (s.) and Barnes (s.) in the champion pairs produced a sensational finish. Low required two to tie on the twenty-first head, and father and son both scored one each, two excellent shot's right on the jack. Barnes burnt tho extra head when lying three down, all three shots being within six inches of kitty. The second extra head found Barnes one down, and his last bowl to play. Remarking to his opposing skip: ‘‘l give you the game,” lie sent up a wild drive, and with a cannon off tho shot bowl, two yards away, his bowl tumbled into shot, and won him the game. Such is the game of bowls, with all its glorious uncertainties. The following rinks will represent Manawatu Club in a friendly interchange with 'l’akaro Club on Saturday: At Takaro—Mason, Bates, Carlisle, McDonald (s.). At Manawatu—Oxcnham, Joseph, Warwick, Olney (s.).

BOWLING NOTES The non-treatment of the patches ol clover spreading over Manawatu green during the past two years is Tathcr surprising. These patches, dotted over the whole green, arc very noticeable and could certainly be cheeked and gradually eradicated if taken in hand immediately. Green Superintendent Broughton has an opportunity, by acting promptly, of keeping this green one of tho best in the city, and club members would be delighted to see this work taken in hand without delay.

A suggestion that the Fletcher Shield should be changed into a tworinks ek&licngc trophy for Saturday play is worthy of consideration. Ar, present four rinks have to compote, and tho trophy is “frozen,” as there are no challengers forthcoming. Player's on Wednesdays have most enjoy - ablo sport with tho Ainslio Shield, a two-rink challenge trophy', and excellent matches and plenty of challengers will be available for' the Fletcher Shield provided the present ruling condition of four rinks from one club challenging is changed to two rinks for Saturday play. Mauawatu Club,

season decided on a policy of trying out new material in the different trophies challenged for, have had a successful run, the Dixon Cup, Manson and Barr Cup and Ainslio Shield all paving been competed for successfully.
