Johnsonville Sale
Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the Johnsonville sale held on Wednesday as follows: — To the usual attendance of buyers we submitted a full yarding of all classes of stock. Cattle were again dull of sale, particularly heavy-weight bullocks, which were hard to quit, the demand running on lighter sorts. Wethers and ewes showed no altera tion in prices as compared with last week’s rates, but good lambs declined a shilling to one and sixpence per head, while inferior lambs met with no demand. Prices were: — Extra heavy bullocks, £6 11s, £6 10, £6 9s fid, £6 Bs, £6 7s Gd, £6 7s, £6 ss, £6 4s to £6; cows and heifers, £3 12s, £3 11s, £3 Is to £2 15s; extra good runners, £2 19s, £2 15s, £2 10s to £ll9s; vealers, £1 l'4s, £1 13s, £1 10s, £1 8s fid, £1 8s to £1 7s; prime extra heavy wethers, 12s 6d, 12s 4d, 12s, 11s fid; medium wethers, 11s, 10s lid, 10s 6d, 10s, 9s Gd; prime heavy ewes, 8s 4d, 8s 3d, Bs, 7s 9d, 7s fid, 7s 5d to 7s; heavy hoggets, 12s fid, 12s, 11s 6d, 11s, 10s fid; heavy spring lambs, 12s fid, 12s, 11s 9d, 11s 6d, 10s fid to 10s; spring lambs, 9s fid, 9s Id, 9s, 8s 7d, 8s fid, 8s 3d; light spring lambs, 7s 6d, 7s 4d. 7s to ss.
ASHHURST SALE Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Ashhurst sale held on Wednesday, December 7, as under: We submitted just a small yarding of dairy cattle, yearling and 2-year Jersey bulls and a few pens of pigs. Quotations: —Dairy cows, close to profit, £4 to £5 2s fid; yearling Jersey bulls, 10s, 255, 30s, 355; 2-year Jersey bulls, £2 to £2 15s; forward conditioned cows, 30s to 355. Pigs: Slips, 12s, 12s fid, 13s, 13s 6d to 14s.
