Car-parking lines in Feilding’s business area arc to be repainted, the council deciding, at its meeting last evening, that the indication marks required renewing. The South Street entrance of the [Borough of Feilding is to bo cleaned up before Christmas, and steps arc to be taken in the direction of improving the large area in the immediate vicinity of the South Street bridge. Three building permits were issued in Feilding last month for works valued at £512. There were two cases of infectious disease notified in Feilding last month. Proposals were agreed to at last evening’s meeting of the Feilding Borough Council for the carrying out of certain improvements in Denbigh Square. In the main these have to do with the moving of the road alongside Mr. Sporle’s shop and the making of a footpath. The practice of motor-cars parking in front of the Tivoli Theatre at night time is to be prohibited. At last evening’s meeting of the Feilding Borough Council the request of the management for this consideration was agreed to, and henceforth “No Parking” standards will guide motorists away from the immediate theatre front.
The tender of the Feilding Saddlery Coy. for the supply of dog collars was accepted at last evening’s meeting of the Feilding Borough Council. At last evening’s . meeting ‘of ' the Feilding Borough Council it was resolved to make a grant of £5 to the local branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. During the month of November 11 cows, 10 oxen, S 9 heifers, 138 ewes, 330 wethers, 83 lambs, pigs and 709 bobby calves wore dealt; with at the Feilding Municipal Abattoir. Fees amounted to £297 Is 6d, as compared with £239 14s 8d for the corresponding month of last year, an increase of £37 6s lOd. At about midnight on Wednesday a cottage on Mr. J. Mair’s property on Lee’s Line was completely destroyed by fire. The dwelling was occupied by Mr. A. •N. Eggleton, an employee of Mr. Mair.
In connection with the emergency unemployment charge a circular from the Unemployment Board points out that the wages received by any worker in respect of his etnployment on relief works, are exempt from the charge only when the work is undertaken by a local authority or public body pursuant to a scheme whereby the whole amount of such wages is refunded to the local authority or public body from the Unemployment fund. The resignation of Mr. G. H. A. Rosoman from the secretarial stall or the Feilding Agricultural High School was accepted at Wednesday’s meeting of the board of managers. The principal (Mr. L. J. Wild) spoke of the valuable services rendered by Mr. Rosoman and ho was happy to know that he had been successful in securing a valuable appointment in Feilding.
Before the conclusion of the business at yesterday’s meeting of the Oroua County Council the chairman (Cr. A. Campbell) extended festive season greetings to members of the Press, thanking the representatives for their regular attendance at meetings of the council and for the consistently accurate reports of proceedings published. The council, ho said, deeply appreciated the help it received from the Press
