SOME GOOD CATCHES REPORTS
With the dawn yesterday angling enthusiasts were on the job, October 1 opening the fishing season. Apparently no limit bags were taken in tlic Manawatu district, but fishermen on the whole had a good day, although the rivers were carrying too much water to make conditions ideal. In addition the wind was against fishing with the fly to a certain extent. The Orona did not fish up to expectations. but the Manawatu proved better and the majority of the fish came out of this river. No rainbow were falcon as far as could be ascertained last night, but some good trout were placed on the scale.
An indication of anglers’ success can be obtained from the fact that club members took SG fish, weighing in the aggregate well over the hundredweight.
Limit bags were secured at Makcikahi and Makura in the Wairarapa, it was reported. The opening of the season, a.ccompanied by fairly good weather, gave indications yesterday that the season will be an excellent one. Details of Weighing-in
