Spring Flowers at Bulls
PRESBYTERION CHURCH SHOW From Our Own Correspondent. The second annual spring flower show and industrial exhibition of 'the Bulls and district Presbyterian Church Was held in the Bulls Town Hall yesterday in beautiful weather. Despite the lateness of the season there was an excellent display of spring blooms, most of whicli were in first-class condition, a point which bespoke volumes for the care and labour expended on them by their respective growers who camo from Feilding, Huntervillc, Rongotea, Carnarvon, Sanson and Halcombe. The champion bloom of tlie show was grown by Mrs. M. E. Leicester, of Tangimoana, whose exhibit attracted much interest.
As usual there were several stalls, all laden with produce, sewing, sweets, etc., and the attendants had a very busy time. The show was officially opened by Mr. J. Linklater, M.P., who was introduced by Rev. A. C. Lane. Mr. Linklater, in declaring the show open, commented favourably on the blooms, saying that what the show lacked in quantity was made up for by the quality of the various bulbs. He mentioned his pleasure at renewing old associations in Bulls, and in touching briefly on affairs of the day, said that farmers could look forward to better times, now as the tide bad turned. He referred to the controversy anent the exchange question also, and said that while the present conditions were in evidence it would not be wise to lift it. He thoiight, moreover, that the full benefits of the exchange had not had time to be appreciated. . Rev. A. C. Lane very capably discharged'the onerous duties as secretary and was well supported by the various section stewards. Results are detailed below Section B—Amateur Class, (Judge: Mr. A.
