This sketch of Hubert Scott-Paine’s “mystery” boat, Miss Britain 111, with which he tried unsuccessfully to win back the Harmsworth Trophy from America, a few weeks ago, and which subsequently caught fire in Poole Harbour when engaged In record-breaking efforts, gives a good idea of the craft’s unusual appearance. .Eight feet in beam and 24ft 6in long, the hull is largely of aluminium alloy. The driving seats and machinery were enclosed in a streamlined cover projecting beyond the stern. The engine, which was damaged in the fire, was a 12-cylinder Napier engine of 1375 h.p.
