Society of Accountants

TOPICAL ADDRESS DELIVERED. A largely-attended meeting oC members of tho Society of Accountants was held last night to hear a lecture by Mr. C. R. Richardson, inspector of the Land and Income Tax Department, on “The standard values of farming stock as applied to income-tax purposes.” Mr. N. I. Nielsen, chairman, presided. The speaker explained the reason for tho Department adopting standard values for standard stock, but a dealer, Mr. Richardson remarked, was not a farmer for the purposes of standard values. The stock of a dealer must be value on tho basis of best market values. Mr. Richardson quoted leading legal decisions which were much appreciated by members. The lecture was a very instructive ono and on the motion of Mr. P. G. Lareomb a vote of thanks was extended to the speaker.
