Unions Tell Strikers To Return to Jobs
MINES OWNED BY U.S. STEEL CORPORATIONS. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright. Received Oct. 3, 10.25 p.m. WASHINGTON, Oct 2. One hundred thousand striking miners from “captive’’ mines were ordered to return to work to-morrow by their union leaders after the steel corporations owning the mines had agreed to accept the union in everything but name.

RECOVERY TAKES TIME,
CHICAGO, Oct. 2.
President Roosevelt, addressing tho American Legion convention, declared that “special benefits would not be given to a man over and above all other citizens because ho wore a uniform.”
Discussing national affairs, he warned his hearers that the realisation of the domestic recovery drive could not be attained in six months, but he rcpoitcd the progress of the movement.
